hallstrom construction, inc. was involved in the constructiom of this 16-megawatt electrical generation plant where waste heat was used to heat a greenhouse for growing tomatoes.  power was generated with natural gas powered internal combustion engines and a steam turbine.  the project generated power for its own comsumption and transmitted the remaining power (34,500v) 2 miles overland to a utility substation.  site improvements included 250,000 cubic yards of earthwork, irrigation and wastewater treatment ponds.
